South Africa’s leading online wine and spirits marketplace now takes a plain English sentence instead of a keyword. Keyword matching and meaning matching run at the same time and their results are blended, so a shopper gets the bottle they named and the ones they would never have found by name. Live since August 2026.

AI Order Intake on Business Central.
A leading South African fine-wine distributor used to re-key every customer purchase order into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central by hand. Now a language model reads the order in any format, deterministic rules price every line from Business Central and flag every exception, and a person confirms before a draft sales order is written back. In controlled live use since October 2026.

What is Pivot AI Lab?
Pivot AI Lab is the engineering side of Pivot Partners: the team that designs and ships production AI inside companies. It is not a research group. Everything it builds runs in a live business, and this is where that work gets written up.
What does the AI Lab actually build?
Agentic workflows that carry a task end to end, internal copilots trained on a company’s own data and tools, automation for repetitive work, and the data plumbing underneath that makes any of it trustworthy. When customers touch it directly, we build that too.
Can we see something you have shipped?
Yes. Hybrid Search on Port2Port went live in August 2026, and an AI order intake tool for a South African wine distributor on Business Central entered controlled live use in October 2026. Both are written up here in full, including the parts still being tuned. More case studies follow as work goes live and clients are happy for us to talk about it.
Do you build things customers touch, or only internal systems?
Both. Internal copilots and automation sit inside the business. Hybrid Search sits in a shop window, used by the public every day. The engineering is the same. The tolerance for getting it wrong is not, which changes how carefully it is shipped.
Do you work with companies you have not invested in?
Yes. Pivot Ventures work happens inside companies we hold equity in and operate. Pivot Advisory work is for clients who hire us. Same engineers and the same method in both. The difference is the commercial relationship.
How does a piece of AI Lab work start?
With a conversation about where the real time and risk is going in your business, rather than with a tool. From there we pick something worth doing, build it, get it live, and hand it over so your own team can run it.
